Wow ! I nominate this for the “Post of the Month” !!
Wait a minute, Mutiny does just 1 pity post a month ! Well, so it still is the “Post of the Month” ; despite no competition. Can my comment count as a post ? Please…
Jokes apart, I find it disgusting that founders that be of Mutiny do not deem it necessary to euthanize the damn thing and are letting this slow bleed to death. To hell with the reader/subscribers huh ? Do the right thing and shut this if this is dead.
For readers like me who were once patrons of Mutiny, here are a few that may interest you :

Hi,
We agree that Mutiny.in should not die a slow death. It’s just that we’re working on the next step to the Mutiny, something very exciting that should be hitting the world in January 2010. Bear with us till then. Again, we apologise!

Oh that’s good to know. Will certainly look forward to the new look ‘mutiny’ in January.
I used to be very active at one point of time but work and life intervened and yada yada yada.
However, I agree with this post about the Times of India, and it’s sad that the largest selling newspaper in India is as pathetic as a ‘national enquirer’ or ’sun’. Most people would argue that the culprit is market forces and that the Times has become commercially aggressive, etc., but I would disagree. I think it’s more to do with laziness and lack of respect to their brand value.
Laziness because of the assumption that sensationalism and flashy colour is what sells. It’s a wrong assumption. What really sells is the value attached to a newspaper’s legacy and brand properties, and in the case of Times, it would be its tradition of solid journalism, good writing, analytical pieces, etc. It’s this kind of focus that has made Guardian what it is or for that matter given The Independent its personality. The Guardian, for example, will never stoop to the level of Sun because it knows that even though Sun is a marketable commodity… it is not something that Guardian’s current and potential customers would identify the newspaper by.
There is nothing wrong with flashy layouts but it must retain the editorial style and legacy that has defined TImes over the years. Packaging can change over the years and it has to but the moment the substance also changes tack and becomes something of less value… it’s the beginning of the end.
I live in the Gulf and in my childhood years we used to subscribe to the Times of India but of late we stopped buying the newspaper because we realise it’s not ‘paisa vasool’.
I hope someone from Times reads this post and does something about their newspaper and, maybe, we will re-consider.
