India needs a Mika Brzezinski
Mika Brzezinski was a relatively unknown co-host of MSNBC’s weekly morning show ‘Morning Joe’ until June 26th. That was the day when she received ‘Paris Hiltons release from jail’ as the lead story. Not only she objected to read the story, but also attempted to burn the sheets though in the end she only managed to tear and shred the copy.
She said: “I just don’t believe in covering that story, especially not as the lead story in a newscast when you have a day like today.
Maybe Indian news channels needs a wake up call from a Mika Brzeninski very badly. Looking at the recent Mutiny poll results, it looks like it is Headlines Today which deserves it more than any other news channel. And boy, they will have to burn a hell lot of stories.

I feel sympathetic for the news companies. They cant make the news happen nor can they cancel their shows because nothing new and worthwhile has happened. This lady just failed to patronize news that she doesnt like.
Talk about news readers - get a load of this…

Its really alarming to see current news channels working on TRPs than on the content of the news. Some news channel due to their 24 hrs on air policies covers stories which are not so important on length and important news are neglected or gets distortion due to ‘quantity’ of news than ‘quality’. In late nights news channels airs ghost stories just like some entertainment channels’ horror serials.

News channels today are completely lost as to what constitutes NEWS worthy of talking about.
We get news about Khalli’s diest, vital stats, Smriti Irani’s patch up with Ekta Kapoor, and all possible controversy theories behind it, and what not.
The news papers, thankfully have not stooped so low, but the likes of Punjab Kesari are still surviving.
Wonder for how much longer.
