The President Bachchan Myth
When I heard it a week back from a media colleague, I made sure that I took his car keys away and got him a taxi home.
Now things might be getting a bit out of hand with the SP and TDP ‘exploring’ the idea with like minded parties.
Frankly, I don’t think Amitabh Bachchan will be the next President. Here are my reasons,
- I asked him. Point blank. He said no. And added, ‘Never want to be in anything to do with politics’. The reason why he is close to SP is because of his ‘brotherly’ feelings for Amar Singh. His wife, Jaya Bachchan, is an SP Rajya Sabha MP.
- Congress will not support him. He used to be close to the Nehru parivar but now seem to dislike each-other.
- The BJP and Left won’t be too inclined either. They would prefer someone closer to either ideology.
Would Amitabh Bachchan make a good President? I think he would. But I think Narayana Murthy would make a better President. I know for a fact he is going make a run for it with a Congress ticket.

So thats you huh? Well, I guess you guys who live out there get to meet the big B and we in India have to line up outside his house! Er, just joking, coz I am not a fan of the big B.
I prefer Shah Rukh, but no, not for President. In fact I agree with Maltesh, Kalam is the best.

@Chacko - You seem to have some good links.. mate. How did you end up meeting Amitabh Bachhan. Why not write another post.
Their indiffrence with Gandhi family is partly due to Gandhis not helping Bachnnas in their worst time.
A friend in Need is a friend indeed. They are mare than happy to help Quatrocchi, but not Bachanns. Guess Why ?
On president, Kalam is great, but lets give chance to some one else, Narayan Murthy yes, but he needs power to make a real difference, he is a PM candidate for me.
